Andy has more than 20 years of experience as a performer, composer,arranger, clinician, and educator in the percussive arts. His experience includes roles in marching, concert, and jazz percussion, and a wealth of experience in show design, percussive education, and arts administration. Andy is also the founder of Anti-Pop Percussion, the Author of the Anti-Pop Drumline book, and largely recognized as a Master of the Art of Rudimental Tenor Drumming. (See his 2nd Place Solo from PASIC 2008) His completed works for the concert percussion ensemble are available through Steve Weiss Music.
Andy’s competitive drum corps experience includes performing roles with the 2001 Emerald Knights from Cedar Rapids, IA (Center Snare and Drumline Section Leader) and the 2003 - 2004 Pioneer from Milwaukee, WI (Tenor Line), where he was awarded the Outstanding Percussionist Award in 2004.
Andy has worked with a number of high school, collegiate, WGI, DCI, and DCA ensembles across the US, including many that have also performed his original compositions and arrangements. Some of the more notable groups include:

Andy’s Concert Percussion performance credits include: Performing Percussionist on Stephen Melillo’s “A Wish to the World” album; Principal Percussionist on Stephen Melillo’s “Whispers on the Wind” album; Principal Percussionist on Alfred Reed’s Symphony for Brass and Percussion released by Alfred Music.
As a Jazz Drumset performer, Andy has shared the stage with Chicago Legends such as John Bany and Lenny Perretta. He has also performed at historical venues such as the Green Mill and Andy’s Jazz clubs in Chicago.
Andy’s career also includes professional experience and academic credentials in arts administration and live event production. Andy has worked with several large-scale organizations over the years, including Disney, Broadway, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He has helped organize, execute, and administrate live events and educational workshops from concept to completion, including events that have drawn
upwards of 2,000 attendees. These notably include a position as the Executive Director of the National Outback Bowl Music Festival held every December in conjunction with the National Outback Bowl as part of the NCAA College Football Bowl Series.
Andy resides in Chicago, IL, with his 2 cats and an imposing record and jazz piano sheet music collection. Andy is very excited to be launching Chicago Percussion in 2021!
