Will Doty

Will Doty is a professional musician and percussion educator from Jacksonville Florida. Will began his marching career as a 3-time member of the DCI finalist Magic of Orlando Drum and Bugle corps. During this time, he also won the 1994 DCI I&E championship in Mixed Ensemble.

Will has written for and taught percussion programs at numerous high schools and colleges throughout the country including the McNeese State University marching band and the Troy State University Sound of the South marching band. He has also served as an adjudicator in Louisiana and Florida.

Will studied marching percussion with some of the biggest names in the marching percussion world, such as Al Murray, John Campese, Jeff Prosperie, Lee Hansen, Rich Viano and Mickey Hartzog.

In college, Will was a student of PAS HOF member Dr. Terrance Mahaday and has performed many seasons with the Lake Charles Symphony Orchestra, the Rapids Symphony Orchestra, the Louisiana Philharmonic and has spent the last few years as principal in the First Coast Wind Symphony.

As a professional musician Will has performed with the likes of Hootie and the Blowfish, Charmaine Neville, Tom Jones, Andy Narrell, Morgan Heritage, Burning Spear and James Brown.

Will is very excited to be added to the Chicago Percussion team of instructional staff and looks forward to its growing into a major force in the marching percussion world.
